How it all began The Toyota Celica was the inspiration behind the Toyota Supra. Inspired in the sense, the Supra was styled according to the Celica even though it is much wider and longer than the Celica. This is why the car was called the Toyota Celica Supra. In the mid-eighties, Toyota Supra was established as a distinct model leaving behind the prefix Celica.

The complete package The Toyota Supra had the best technology used at the time. It came with power shutters, cruise control, power locks, and some even with a sunroof. The tilt steering wheel and four-speaker audio stereo were the other special features. Toyota Supra has the prestige of being the first-ever car in the world to have a navigation computer in its 1981 model.

Engine The Toyota Crown and 2000GT inspired the first three generations of the Toyota Supra model engine. The 6-cylinder engine of the Supra is known to be highly durable and has high horsepower.

Start to the end The Toyota Supra was first produced in 1978 under the name Celica XX. One year later, the car was exported from Japan. In 1998, the US halted the sale of the Toyota Supra and it was only in 2002 that Toyota stopped its production in Japan. The reason Toyota stopped its production was the increasing costs due to the exhaust emission targets. If you are lucky enough to get your hand on one of the earliest models from the JDM, then you will get a Celica XX instead of a Supra!
