Here’s how all auto auctions including Japan Motor grades the vehicles in their auctions:

Grade S or 7,8,9 – well these beauties are worth grabbing. The price will be higher since they’re brand new. The mileage of these grade vehicles will only be the amount taken for delivering the vehicle.

Grade 6 – vehicles that are graded under this number are very similar to the above ones. The price will be high but the mileage will be low.
Very similar to the above vehicle but the mileage will be a little bit higher

Grade 5 – This is the grade you will find a used car but with low mileage however you can look forward to a pristine condition

Grade 4.5 – Vehicles that are graded at this amount the mileage leads up to 100K and the condition of the vehicle can be graded as excellent

Grade 4 – At this grade it implies that the vehicle is solid regardless of the mileage of the car. The mileage maybe higher or lower but still it’s considered that the vehicle is in good condition

Grade 3.5 – the vehicle condition may be similar to a grade 4 but with a poor paint and panel work that may need to be fixed. The mileage of the vehicle will be on the high side.

Grade 3 – a vehicle under this grade will usually need some paint and panel work. The mileage will be pretty high. The grade goes down when panels are replaced so the vehicle may have a replacement.

Grade 2 – this is a grade given to vehicles that fall under the poor condition. They are not necessarily write offs. This is an indication that the vehicle condition has declined and it is in a poor condition. You can expect some corrosion or similar fault in these vehicles. Classics and older heavy vehicles come under grade two.

Grade 1 – If a vehicle has undergone major modifications then it will be graded as one.

Grade 0, A. R. RA – Vehicles that carry a repair history are graded under these categories. The repair can be a big one or a minor one.
